On 12 November, a media day was held in the Valmiera Industrial Park of national importance. Representatives of Valmiera Municipality Government, project partners and construction contractors informed the media about the history of the project, what has been achieved so far, and ceremoniously laid a time capsule in the future logistics area.
The message to future generations was signed by Jānis Baiks, Chairman of the Valmiera Municipality Government, Pēteris Lejnieks, “A.C.B.” Ltd. Māris Millers, Head of the Vidzeme Region Division of the Central Finance and Contracting Agency. The capsule also contained contemporary evidence: a growth medal (symbol of Valmiera Municipality), advertising material for the industrial park, the 12 November issue of the newspaper “Liesma” and coins.
“More than ten years of purposeful work in Valmiera Industrial Park is beginning to take the shape of an industrial territory – the necessary utilities infrastructure is being built, a concrete logistics area for cargo handling is being laid, a railway embankment is being created, and the base of parking lots is being constructed. We are witnessing the beginning of Valmiera Industrial Park becoming an important logistics centre for freight transport, and we are ready to attract powerful investors whose companies’ products would be globally competitive. Access to railways, utilities, high-capacity electricity and transport infrastructure are advantages that we can provide with the support of the European Recovery Fund. Also, to make entrepreneurs feel secure here, we are offering a term of development rights of up to 70 years according to the amount of investments made,” Jānis Baiks, Chairman of the Valmiera Municipality Government, informed the audience about the Valmiera Industrial Park.
Work is already underway on the park’s site. Concreting of the 44 600 m2 logistics and storage area with a load capacity of 60 t has started, as well as the construction of two public parking areas (for cars and trucks). The construction of utilities (water main and municipal sewerage) on Ozolkalna Road is nearing completion. Preparatory works for the connection to the public railway and the internal railway have started. It should also be mentioned that the territory of the industrial park is to be fenced with a metal panel fence, green areas are to be landscaped, and lighting is to be provided for public parking areas, railway and road infrastructure.
“A.C.B.” Group, one of the main contractors of this project, is pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the creation of a new industrial park of national importance, which in the long term will make a significant contribution to the development of Valmiera and the Vidzeme region. “Vidzeme is an important business region for us, given that one of the Group’s main support points is located in Valmiera’s neighbouring town Smiltene. I would like to note that “A.C.B.” specialists from all over Latvia are already involved in the implementation of these two construction projects, as the planned scope of the construction works is significant and the implementation of the technical solutions for this project requires our team’s considerable experience in the construction of similar large-scale industrial infrastructure facilities. We are pleased that this facility not only contributes to the development of infrastructure, but also gives us the opportunity to work during the winter period, which is particularly important for us,” says JSC “A.C.B.” Pēteris Lejnieks, Chairman of the Board.
At the Valmiera Industrial Park media day, information was also available on the auctions of development rights for three industrial development areas of 17 ha, 10.2 ha and 7.4 ha. The application for participation in the auction must be submitted to the Valmiera Municipality Government by 2 December 2024 at 17.00. For more information visit www.investinvalmiera.eu.
Media representatives captured historical moments in photographs and videos, exploring the park area by road in vehicles and the area around the park by bus. The construction managers gave detailed answers about the ongoing infrastructure works, and the guests also saw first-hand the strategic infrastructure objects of the park, such as Ozolkalna Road, where “Limbažu ceļi” Ltd. is building a utility corridor.
The infrastructure works are being carried out with the funding of EUR 20 million from the European Recovery Fund under project No 3.1.1.i.0/1/23/A/CFLA/008 “Development of Valmiera Industrial Park”. According to the tender results and contracts, the construction works in Valmiera Industrial Park are carried out by the following construction companies: the association of suppliers “ACB8”, “Limbažu ceļi” Ltd and the association of suppliers “VIP ACB&R”. Valmiera Municipality Government is constructing the engineering networks together with the project partner “Valmieras ūdens” Ltd., which will provide water management services in the park area. The total budget of the project is EUR 23 761 723,12.
